Product Creation – Part Four – Product Innovation

If you’re an expert, you’ve got a great advantage over the rest of us. You know of what you speak. So take advantage of that by having a friend conduct a recorded interview with you. Have all your questions established beforehand so you’re certain to cover all the talking points you want to hit.

Or conduct a tele-seminar. This is a great way to pay for your product development. Make it a free seminar, but offer attendees an audio copy as well as the transcripts for a nominal fee. That should cover all your tele-seminar and transcription services and leave you with a complete product. Sell it as a download. Sell it as a CD. Sell it as an ebook.

This is also a great strategy if you ever give live seminars. Have them video taped or audio taped and turn them into multi-media products.

Turn Existing Content Into Products

This is something that’s easy to do, quick, and has largely been overlooked by most product developers. Here it is: contact a bunch of experts in your niche and ask them to submit their best articles or reports or videos on a particular topic. Then compile the responses into a product.

The experts benefit by having their links included in the product without having to do anything but select something they’ve already completed. You could also entice them by giving your experts the first shot at selling the product to their own customers. You benefit with a product filled with expert opinions, plus you gain instant credibility in the eyes of the customers of the experts.

For examples, if you want to create a product for the copywriting crowd, you could contact several copywriting experts and ask them to submit a sales letters that they wrote for one of their products. Compile all the submitted letters into one mega collection of Proven Salesletters and you’ve got an instant product!

Very powerful. Very easy.

Use Private Label Content

Private label rights extends you the right to insert your own name as the author of the product. In the best of circumstances, you don’t have to write a single word. You simply purchase the rights to the material, add your name to it, and start selling.

Unfortunately, the best of circumstances is the exception rather than the rule. Most private label rights are either lacking in quality or are overexposed on the Internet.

However, you can clean up private label rights material … add material that’s missing, cut material that’s unnecessary, give it your own voice. Or you can submit it to a ghostwriter to clean up, which generally is much less expensive than if a ghostwriter started from the beginning.

Resell Rights Products

Most resell rights products don’t allow you to change the content. This creates a challenge, because you aren’t the only one holding the license to the product. So you have to find a way to stand out in the crowd. You’ve got a product, a resell rights product which you’ve purchased, so the hard work is done. In order to help make sales, however, you need to add some bonus products (look for private label rights) to make it a better deal than other marketers are offering.
